Born in Los Angeles in March of 1982, oil painter Audrey Kawasaki headed to New York City to attend the Pratt Institute where she studied for two years. Audrey parted ways with the institute citing differences between the conceptual New York art scene and her more figurative, illustrative approach. For years Audrey has been a rising star in the LA art community solidifying her place in the scene with a feature in LA Weekly’s Best of L.A. 2011 issue. Audrey’s seductive, nude, erotic young women often resemble what some think to be an alter-ego of the artist herself, who is very humble and shy. Audrey will have paintings on display at the Thinkspace Gallery in an upcoming show alongside fellow artists Stella Im Hultberg, Mari Inukai, and Amy Sol. The show opens tonight, October 8th and runs until October 29th.
